Connecting to the Wifi

Wireless connectivity is an important part of our every day life. There are two two wireless networks at UMass Lowell: eduroam and UMassLowell. Below you will find information you need to set up most network enabled devices including helpful videos and FAQ. The following introduction video will give you a basic overview of our wireless service offerings for your various devices. As always, our IT Service Desk is available if you need additional help.

WINTER 2020 UPDATE:

The process to configure your device to eduroam has changed. This process change does not impact existing eduroam functionality but if you need to reset your connection, please go to the Eduroam Device Configuration link below for the updated configuration instructions.

iOS Device

Connect to the UMassLowell Wi-Fi network.

  1. Open the Safari browser, navigate to Eduroam Device Configuration webpage, and tap iOS Device, then Get Started Now.
  2. Log in with your UMass Lowell email and password.
  3. Tap Install eduroam Profile and then tap Allow when prompted.
  4. Once the profile has been downloaded, close Safari and open Settings.
  5. Tap Profile Downloaded at the top of your settings, Install on the next two screens, and then Done after the profile finishes installation.
  6. Now go back to your Wi-Fi settings, forget the UMassLowell network, and then connect to eduroam to complete the setup process.

How to forget a Wi-Fi network:

Open Settings, tap Wi-Fi, tap the blue i icon next to eduroam, and then tap Forget.

How to remove a wireless profile:

Open Settings, tap General, scroll down until you can tap Profiles, tap eduroam, and then tap Remove Profile.

Android Device

  1. Connect to the UMassLowell Wi-Fi network and install the ClearPass QuickConnect app from the Google Play Store.
  2. When the install has finished, launch the app. You will be prompted to allow the app access to various device attributes. You must accept all of these requests in order for the app to function properly. The app is only required for the initial setup and can be uninstalled after the setup process is complete.
  3. After accepting the prompts, open Google Chrome and navigate to Eduroam Device Configuration webpage, choose Android Device then click Get Started Now.
  4. Log in with your UMass Lowell email and password.
  5. Tap I've already installed QuickConnect and then tap Install Network Profile.
  6. Once the file has finished downloading, tap Open, which will automatically open the file in the QuickConnect app and configure your device.
  7. Once the QuickConnect app has finished setting up the profile, it will automatically connect you to eduroam to complete the setup process.
